After hospital attorney Horace is fired, he returns home to discover the U.S. Forest service has mistakenly delivered 1,000 spruce-tree seedlings to his home. When he decides to find homes for the tiny trees in the remote north Maine woods, his wife, Beverly, begins to think he’s gone around the bend. Into the mix come Oz, an ex-convict, who begins to find his worth in helping Horace plant the trees, and Oz’s girlfriend, Lucy. In the end, four souls adrift find themselves washed up on Vinalhaven Island, where they discover an unexpected joy in each other’s company and ultimately come together as a family
