Author Information: JANE LAMB has been a regular contributor to Down East magazine since the 1980s, and her features have also appeared in the Boston Globe, Maine Horticulture, Fine Homebuilding, Learning, American Profiles, Maine Organic Farmer and Gardener, the Portland Press Herald, and other periodicals. A graduate of Colby College, with graduate degrees from the University of Maine and Trinity College in Dublin, Jane has also taught high school English and journalism. After gardening and living in Maine for many years, she moved to California in 2002.
