What the Sea Left Behind

Author/Illustrator: Mimi Gregoire Carpenter

The ebb and flow of the tides leave fascinating things for children and adults alike to collect and admire, including sea life, pebbles, and other treasures. Beautiful and detailed paintings by a noted Maine illustrator.

Author Information: Since childhood, artist MIMI GREGOIRE CARPENTER has been fascinated by the shells and other objects she collected along the beach at Pemaquid. She prefers to work within the more intimate scope of small objects, in contrast to the broad perspective of most seascapes, and therefore refers to her detailed opaque watercolors as "anti-seascape/landscapes." Mimi was born and raised in Maine and holds a degree in art from the University of Southern Maine. She lives in Oakland, Maine.
