Tamara Himmelman is a self-taught fibre-artist who lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her work reflects the colours and shapes that are found in the landscape surrounding her on the beautiful and ever-changing North Atlantic coastline.
Tamara began experimenting with fibre in 2006 and fell in love with the process of transforming wool into felt. Each piece goes through its own journey, starting with the individual fibres of wool or strand of yarn and evolves into a 3-dimensional felt form. She often incorporates found objects from nature such as stones collected from the beach or acorns collected from the forest floor. Her inspirations include colour, texture, travel, Mother Nature, the changing seasons, and simple everyday pleasures.
Tamara finds beauty and joy in the small things in life and hopes that you will find joy in the small items that she has created.
