The Dawning of the Day

Author:  Elisabeth Ogilvie

This novel in Ogilvie’s acclaimed Bennett’s Island saga brings attractive Philippa Marshall to the island as the new teacher in the one-room schoolhouse. Life on the island however, is not as peaceful as she had hoped. The islanders are steadfast in their ways and suspicious of Philippa’s unorthadox teaching methods. But she finds an ally in tall, quite Steve Bennett. In the end she must decide, once and for all, whether to make the island her home or leave it forever.

Author Information:  Well-known author ELISABETH OGILVIE wrote more than 30 novels for adults and 14 young adult novels. She was born in Boston in 1917 and was raised in the Boston area, summering on the Maine coast. Later in life, she moved to Maine, spending the better part of each year on Gay’s Island and winters in her mainland home, across the harbor.
