Lee-Lee Schlegel

Location: Milbridge, Maine

Lee-Lee Schlegel began her fiber art career in northern Virginia; working out of the Torpedo Factory gallery in Alexandria, lecturing at the Smithsonian, as President of Potomac Craftsmen Guild and writing about fiber arts for various publications. She is the author of Arans – A Saga in Wool, a study of the history, origins and development of the Aran Island gansey and its ornamentation.

After a long hiatus/career change, Lee-Lee took up fiber art again after retirement to Maine. She refocused and now designs and knits Aran Island fisherman-style sweaters for children. No two sweaters are alike; the pattern being destroyed after execution. Lee-Lee has two lines; one being a traditional style gansey, the other a more feminine line with lace panels amongst the traditional cables.

Lee-Lee’s work is sold only in Maine.

You may view Lee-Lee's Aran Island fisherman-style sweaters for children under Fiber Arts, Apparel.
