Maine in Four Seasons: 20 Poets Celebrate the Turning Year
Author: Wesley McNair
It is a commonplace belief that poetry is the literary form that best expresses our deepest feelings. Even those who seldom read poetry still regularly turn to it for the most important moments in life such as weddings or funerals. The poems in this gift-size anthology speak to the seasons of Maine, celebrating familiar scenery and events in a common language. The 20 poems (five for each season) represent the range of seasonal landscapes and activities from the coast to the northernmost border.
Editor Information: This is WESLEY McNAIR’s fifth anthology of Maine writing. He is the author of several poetry collections, one of which is The Maine Poets, and two books of essays, A Place Called Maine and Contemporary Maine Fiction (the latter of which is also available in paperback as Today’s Best Maine Fiction). He has received numerous grants, fellowships and awards and is a professor emeritus and writer in residence at the University of Maine at Farmington. He makes his home in Mercer, Maine.
