Northern Tides, Inc. is a continually evolving art and gift gallery located on the principal commercial waterfront street in Lubec, Maine. Owners Deb and Jerry Kasunic opened Northern Tides on June 1st, 2007.
Northern Tides Art and Gift Gallery provides a forum for local artists, 98% of whom are women, to exhibit and sell art and fine crafts which reflect Lubec, the Down East Maine coast, Cobscook Bay and the Canadian Maritimes. Our vision is to procure and promote art and fine crafts not available at other local galleries or gift shops.
Northern Tides started out simply, representing 15 local artists. After five years of trial and error, and a devoted clientele (to whom we are very grateful), Northern Tides has grown to represent over 80 area artists, artisans and vendors as of 2011.
Sixty percent of the Gallery's artists and artisans are from within 30 miles of Lubec. Most other artists/artisans reside in the State of Maine, although we do represent artists from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Labrador, and Prince Edward Island, all right across the Bay of Fundy.
